Get to know Mike

Mike has always been connected to a group of men.  Well. . .not always.  For the first seven years of his marriage Mike was a self-described ungodly man and husband.  Then God changed his life. . .and his marriage.  God became the focus of Mike's life when he and his wife, Karen, began attending a fairly new church, Legacy Church, in Plano, Texas in the late '80s.  It was while they were serving God at Legacy that He called Mike and Karen into full-time ministry.  Since that time Mike has been serving God in some capacity or another in churches in Texas and Alabama.

When God changed Mike's life, Mike realized that he really didn't have a godly model of a man and husband to look to.  As Mike observed several men at Legacy and began investigating what a godly man and husband looked like he began developing into the man God designed and desires him to be.  While he didn't always get it the first time around, he kept at it.  Staying connected with a small group of men definitely helped.  It was in those small groups that Mike learned and developed a deep, passionate love for God and Karen.  As to his love for Karen, he has often stated that he "is more passionately in love with Karen today, than the day they were married."  This was his heart to the day Karen passed away in 2005.

Combining his worldly, corporate, and well traveled experiences with his formal education at The University of Texas at Dallas and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Forth Worth, Texas enables Mike to approach ministry, and especially ministry to men, from a unique perspective.  Mike understands first hand what it's like to be an ungodly and godly man and husband, to be on the frontlines of the workforce and corporate environment, to be in ministry, and face the temptations of a married and a single man.

In 2006 God began challenging Mike to help other men - young and old, single and married - to become the men God designed and desires them to be.  It is his heart to assist men to grow in their love for God and the Eves of their lives.  This is how ManHeart Ministries began. . .a dream. . .a passion. . .a desire to help men.

But the story doesn't end there.  On November 17, 2007 Mike married Cindy Claybaugh.  God has given him another chance to love, cherish, and honor another wonderful gift with a passion for missions and ManHeart Ministries.

Growing up around the world exposed Mike to a range of activities he enjoys, from riding horses, his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, or his Specialized Allez Comp bicycle, to snow skiing, white water rafting, camping, and hanging out at the beach. He also loves Starbucks - it's his favorite meeting place.

If you're looking for someone to reach out and connect with men on any level Mike's your guy.  Give him a call or email him to set up a time to meet and talk about the possibility of speaking to or working with your men.
